Overview
Reddit Sidebar Tracker is a browser extension designed to help you stay productive on Reddit. We take privacy seriously and strive to collect no personal data beyond what is strictly required for core functionality.
What data we store
- Viewed posts list: Stored locally using
chrome.storage
(or equivalent). Used to indicate which posts you've already opened. - Usage time counters: Stored locally to display your daily Reddit time.
- Bookmarks & folders: Saved locally so you can organize links by folder.
All of the above data is kept on your device. We do not run a backend service to receive or store your data.
What we do NOT collect
- We do not collect names, emails, or other personally identifiable information.
- We do not collect your Reddit credentials or private messages.
- We do not sell data to third parties.
- We do not use third‑party analytics by default.
Permissions we request
The extension requests certain permissions solely to enable its features:

: To render the extension UI in the browser side panel.storage
: To save your local settings, viewed posts history, timers, and bookmarks.tabs

: To detect current Reddit tab and context for tracking viewed posts.contextMenus
: To provide quick actions (e.g., save to bookmarks) from the context menu.downloads

: Required to operate on Reddit pages you visit.
Data sharing
We do not transmit your data to external servers. If in the future we add opt‑in analytics or cloud sync, we will clearly disclose and require your explicit consent.
Children's privacy
This extension is not designed for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
